Jackson Werner Homes Ltd. has been in business since 2014. Both John and Andrew have been in the construction industry for more than a decade. John worked with his father who built homes in Vancouver in the 1970’s and 1980’s, and more recently John began building custom single family homes in 2005. Andrew has been involved in construction, millwork and building with hands-on experience more than 16 years.
Every project has direct supervision by qualified Jackson Werner Homes personnel.
Jackson Werner Homes Ltd. carries General Liability Insurance and WorkSafeBC coverage as well. As well, we work with National Home Warranty, to provide 2-5-10 New Home Warranty coverage for every new home we build.
JW Homes works with, and can recommend, a variety of architect, plan and interior designers and we are happy to work with anyone that our clients have chosen to help bring their dreams to reality.
The build time will vary depending on a variety of factors such as the contours of the lot, whether there is a basement involved, the size of the house, the time taken to make design decisions and prior to starting how long the municipality takes to approve the plans.
Generally we prefer to use the subcontractors and trades that we have created relationships with. This would really depend on the trade and why the client would prefer them and would be discussed on a case by case basis.
The unexpected does sometimes happen. Whether it is something we can sometimes intuit based on external situations (wall rot behind a leaky window) or something totally unexpected (like a deceased Python in a wall cavity) we will deal with it. If it is beyond the scope of what was agreed to, we will provide as many priced options as possible and work with the homeowner to decide the best and most practical course of action.
Yes. While the planning, operations and scheduling and some construction work is performed by Jackson Werner Homes employees, most of the work will be performed by trusted and expert sub-contractors, in each area of work required. The sub-contractors we use have had a long-term relationship with our company and proven their reliability and quality.
We have a couple of different payment schedules depending on the scope and length of the project. Most of our payment schedules are milestone based, especially for first time project or for longer projects. Generally, a deposit is required at the start of the project.
The majority of our work will include a written contract outlining clearly what the work is and what it isn’t and an approximate timeline that we are working toward. If the work is relatively straightforward, and can be explained clearly on a quote, sometimes that suffices especially if this is with a repeat client who understands our quality and our work.
Communication happens throughout the project. Both John and Andrew are available to discuss any aspect of the project – ranging from specific events of the day or to progress or direction on the whole project.
Call us and we will help deal with it.
